this is what we require to be able to function viably

1st.. we require a pitch with a 20 meter frontage and minimum depth of 18 although 20m is better this pitch needs to slope to the rear slightly for water runoff and ideally backs on to a hedge for privacy. The ideal situation for this pitch is on the main route from camping to arena as people do not want to walk too far to use the sauna/showers. We have realized over the years that although friends who know our service will hunt us out wherever we are that people who don't know us need to walk past us a few times before it sinks in that our sauna is not really scary and normal festie goers do use us and that the relaxation area is a nice place to sit down have a cuppa and jam with the instruments we supply. (It also benefits our stall) However if the pitch is to close to rave tents etc. the relaxation area DOES NOT work and the whole setup suffers ...... So pitch 20m square on slight slope to hedge on walkway between camping and arena in low sound area.

2nd.. A wood supply which must be seasoned and dry if we are to be able to cope with busy periods. The volume of wood we require per day is EQUIVALENT to 5 or 6 of the heavy pallets that super markets use ( normally painted blue). W e can use any dry seasoned wood, blue pallets is just a way of describing the amount,. Our stove functions best with a minimum wood length of 18 inches, we have a saw and can cut larger bits down. A mixture of old pallets and logs is best, pallets for water heating and logs for maximum sauna heat (and to give me a chance to sit down and have a cuppa)

3.. A water supply, If you hold a normal garden hose horizontally at waist height and the water travels 2 feet before it reaches the ground then that is enough flow but we require this flow about 18 feet in the air to have enough pressure to reach our header tank. If the supply suddenly cuts of we PANIC as we may well have about 40 gallons of water boiling and the fire roaring and no way to dump the water to the hot tub and we have to extinguish the fire and PANIC..We do have a water pump and provided our solar panels are in the sun can boost the water power and if we can borrow 2 X 250 lit re (50 gallon) drums we have a water reserve that can cope with the water shortage that often happens during the morning rush hours ..... Uninterruptible water supply of moderate flow and pressure and 2x250 liter clean containers for back up

As a magic hat service we are free to use and have a donation hat we do not suggest a minimum donation people are free to ignore the hat if they wish We do not pay the festival and they do not pay us (although if they wish to make a donation we welcome it and we have made donations to festies that have made a loss if we haven't). We find that with a festival of about 2000 people for 3 days or 250 people for a week long camp the donations from the hat and profits from our stall normally manage to make a profit although this depends on site (not too noisy and people walking past) and whether there are other showers on site etc. We need a minimum of 4 tickets to run from 7am to midnight approximately .. 6 tickets allow us to extend our working time if required or have some time off as the sauna is ALWAYS manned when open. Reading our sign gives more idea of how we function and the us page about our stall etc . We have found difficulty getting crew to work the long hours they have to if we only have 4 tickets so we have invested in an espresso machine so that our crew have a chance to earn themselves some pocket money and we do reduced price coffee for site crew with identification to benefit the site. lov SAMS
